FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where do you work?
I live in Dorset and work mainly throughout the South West, including Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset, Hampshire, Berkshire, Gloucestershire and London.
How long have you been a photographer?
My first job as a professional photographer was in 1999 and I've been working consistently for the last 15 years. I've travelled the world and worked in most channels of photography including advertising, TV and media, weddings, corporate, editorial, and lifestyle photography, and am now delighted to specialise in my favourite of all.... children and family photography!
Help! I don't like having my photograph taken!
This is probably the question I hear the most often - rest assured, you are not alone! It's entirely natural that the thought of standing in front of the lens makes you feel uncomfortable, and I completely understand. On the occasions I've been photographed I feel just the same.. but funnily enough, I can confidently say that once the ice is broken and we get into the swing of things, pretty much all of my clients end up saying that they actually enjoyed it. Seriously. Hard to believe, but it's true.
I want to improve my photography and take better pictures of my children. Do you do workshops?
Watch this space! I'm planning on starting one day workshops as of next January aimed at parents who simply want to become more confident with their camera and take better pictures of their children. Sign up for my newsletter to be the first to find out details. Numbers will be restricted so get in touch if you're interested and want to find out more!
Where will the session take place?
We'll discuss locations at the telephone pre-consultation. The session can take place at your home, or at a pre-arranged location. I know lots of beautiful places near me in Dorset, and happy to hear any favourite spots you know of.
What should we wear?
If you like the soft muted colours of my photography, I'd suggest wearing nothing too bright or too dark, or anything with lots of patterns. Black and other dark, heavy colours are best avoided.
Should we bring anything to the session?
Snacks, water, lip salve, a hairbrush, a change of clothes for little ones, and a neutral coloured rug or throw are all very useful!
What happens if one of us is ill?
Don't worry! If one of you becomes ill you can reschedule the session once at no extra cost; please give me 48 hours notice so that I can reschedule your slot. If you have to reschedule your session a second time, a 50% re-booking fee will apply.
What happens if it rains?
We'll chat the day before the session and if the forecast is really bad we will reschedule. If light rain is forecast it's often worth going ahead with it, and hoping we catch a few rays of sunshine between showers!
AFTER THE SESSION
How soon will the photographs be ready?
Between 2 and 3 weeks after the session your images will be ready. Depending on where you live, you will either view them with me in a slideshow at your home, or in a password protected online gallery. The gallery will remain live for 6 days so that you have plenty of time to make decisions. We'll also schedule a call so that we can discuss how you'd like to display them in your home, and I'll advise you on what will look lovely.
How many photographs will be in the gallery?
There will be between 40 - 60 images to view from your session.
Do you retouch the photographs?
Yes, standard retouching (colour correction, contrast and exposure adjustment) is included on all images. Extended retouching is available on request, and outsourced to my retoucher.
Will they be in colour or black and white?
The majority of the images will be in colour, with a few black and white images.
Can I buy the digital files?
Yes, the complete set of edited images on a USB flash drive are £900.
Individual files are available for purchase on orders over £650 and cost £75 each.
What kind of portrait products do you offer?
This is the fun part! I love to create tangible works of art that can be looked at and enjoyed every single day, and my beautiful exhibition quality portrait products are hand made by some of the best suppliers in the business.
My main products are bespoke frames, hand made albums, the digital files and gift prints. My best sellers are my frames and you can see some examples on my products page.
All products are guaranteed for life.
Is there a minimum spend?
No, you can spend as much or as little as you like. Most clients spend between £900 and £2,500 but you are under no obligation to spend a certain amount.
Once I've ordered my portrait products, when will I receive them?
Frames, prints and the digital images will be delivered up to 4 weeks after payment has been received. Albums will take slightly longer, no more than 6 weeks after the proof has been finalised.
Sounds great! How do I book you?
Easy! Simply drop me a line and let's get planning! Useful info for me to know is where you live, the ages of your children, and roughly what month you'd like to have some photographs done. I am booked up to 6 months in advance.
