I understand that most people haven't been photographed that many times by a professional photographer, and chances are you don't really know what to expect.  I hope that this will give you a little more insight into how I work.

My portrait sessions usually last about an hour and a half, and we can either start at your home and then head outdoors, or you can choose a nearby spot that you love.  Although I travel far and wide for work, I'm based in Dorset and know lots of beautiful locations, and am happy to advise on when and where might be best.

Handstands.  Jumping on the bed.  Reading a book on the stairs.  Climbing trees. The quiet moments are as important as the noisy ones, and I like to capture all these moments and the smaller ones inbetween.

I get it - having been photographed many times over the years I know exactly what it's like to be on the other side of the lens.  I know you think you won't know what to do in front of the camera, and that maybe your children won't behave.

That's where I come in.  I know the psychology to inspire the most reluctant sitters, easy ways to reassure the shy ones, and the games to make everyone laugh.

It's not about perfect posing and having every hair in place; it's about being ourselves and defining what makes us who we are.

2 weeks before our session we'll have a pre-consultation on the telephone where we'll discuss how you can prepare for the session, including tips on what to wear, what to bring on the day, and the locations.  I'll ask you lots of questions about the family so I can get to know you all a little before the session.

You'll receive a PDF of my 'Work with me' Guide which contains lots of info about my  beautiful portrait products (from bespoke frames and hand made albums to digital files and gift prints) giving you lots of inspiration on the different ways to display your images.  I'll also send you my price list.

Finally I'll touch base the day before to confirm timings and to check the weather.

You're looking for a leisurely, relaxed photo session where the only requirement is to have fun.  The good news?  You don't have to do anything, apart from be there, and trust that your story will be told.

You don't have to worry about where to look, how to stand, whether everyone is on good form or 'behaving themselves'.  That's my job to make sure that all happens, so you can sit back and relax!

If we're working on location I usually suggest arriving at least 20 minutes before the session to make sure that we're ready to go on time, and if the session is at your home then I'll make sure I do the same.  The session will last for approx an hour and a half.
